Jordyn Lindsay, Children’s Pastor
Jordyn grew up in the small town of Monticello, IA with her parents and four younger siblings. Learning at a young age that life is not always sunshine and rainbows, she quickly fell in love with the comfort and safety of her church family at Martelle Christian Church, whom she was introduced to by her grandparents. At the age of ten she heard her first campfire testimony at Northeast Iowa Christian Service Camp and, after learning more and more about Jesus, was baptized there two short years later. At the age of fourteen, at the same church camp, Jordyn learned that there are more colleges than Iowa, Iowa State, and the University of Northern Iowa (Go Hawks!), and felt called by God to attend Ozark Christian College. When the 2020 pandemic had other plans for her fourth semester/summer (and everyone else in the world) she ended up working in the registrar’s office over the summer. Although campus was like a ghost town, that summer she met her husband, Levi, through her now mother-in-law who was working for Ozark and was mentoring her at the time.
During her last summer as a student at OCC she had an internship with Town and Country Christian Church in Topeka, KS before joining the staff as the Family Ministry Assistant. During her year on staff she not only learned a lot about children’s ministry and grew a deeper love for it, but she also got engaged, graduated college, and got married! For the last two years Jordyn has enjoyed getting to be Levi’s “tag along” as he attended Kansas State University, had an internship in Phoenix, AZ, and graduated with a Master’s degree this last May (Go Cats!). They and their energetic pup, Harper, are ecstatic to be getting settled into the Olathe area. Jordyn also enjoys cooking/baking for others, reading books, going on runs/being outside, and has a vast tea collection.
