Purpose Statement:   Small Groups exist to promote healthy, spiritual friendships that create unity and community. We do this by growing healthy friendships, studying the Bible and developing Biblical community in Small Groups. As our church grows larger, we want to continually grow smaller through our Small Group Ministry.
The driving passage for small groups is Hebrews 10:24-25 which says this:
“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds,  not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.”

Study Groups

Study group are designed to provide opporunity to learn more about the bible, faith and everything in between.  The different groups will focus on topical things or specific books of the Bible.  These studies might be based on a video curriculum, a study book or just a conversation about scripture and verse.  Some studies will be located at the church and others will be in the hosts home.  But all study groups are purposed in educating and edifying the faith of our Crossroads family as we strive to live out our faith in Christ.

Revelation: Part 4

In this fourth and final part of our Precept Upon Precept series on Revelation, observe a profound connection between John’s apocalyptic visions and Old Testament prophecies, particularly regarding themes of divine judgment, restoration, and the fulfillment of God’s promises, illustrating continuity between the Old and New Testaments.

Through 14 weeks of study, discover the meaning of Revelation 4-22 in the context of Scripture. Apply what you’re learning to your life as you discover the truth for yourself.

Passages concerning biblical prophecy, especially from the Old Testament, are included in this final study of Revelation.

For Precept Upon Precept, we typically see people spend 4-5 hours per week studying on their own, plus the time that they spend in a group setting

Raising Disciples

Join other parents, grandparents, caregivers, and children’s ministry volunteers for an 8-week small group going through the book, “Raising Disciples,” by Dr. Teresa Roberts.

A note from Dr. Roberts: Did you know that the most critical discipleship happens in the first thirteen years of life? While children are growing taller, learning vocabulary words, and developing social skills, they are forming their beliefs about God, God’s Word, and God’s work in the world. Learning and following the age-level stages of discipleship is a powerful way to help our kids become wholehearted followers of Christ.

Sacred Marriage

In this six-session small group Bible study, Sacred Marriage, writer and speaker Gary Thomas invites you to see how God can use marriage as a discipline and a motivation to reflect more of the character of Jesus. Your marriage is much more than a union between you and your spouse. It is a spiritual discipline ideally suited to help you know God more fully and intimately. Sacred Marriage shifts the focus from marital enrichment to spiritual enrichment in ways that can help you love your mate more. Whether it is delightful or difficult, your marriage can become a doorway to a closer walk with God.

Everything about your marriage—from the history you and your spouse create, to the love you share, to the
forgiveness you both offer and seek by turn—is filled with the capacity to help you grow in Christ’s character.

Our study will start out in the book of Romans. Be sure to bring your Bible.

Jesus Outside the Lines

Weary of Us against Them? Scott Sauls shows a way forward for those who are tired of taking sides. He talks about a true, pure, undefiled, unfiltered and altogether biblical and beautiful system of belief – one that leads people to trust God and have hope, to love neighbors who are near and who are in need, and to extend kindness to enemies. Are we less concerned about defending our rights – for Jesus laid down His rights – and more concerned about joining Jesus in His mission of loving people, places and things to life?

We will read a chapter ahead of meeting each week and then discuss the Group Discussion/Reflection questions and see how these apply to our lives.

Jesus and Women by Kristi McLelland
In our time together, we’re going to study God’s Word in a way that might seem a bit different from what you’ve experienced in the past. We are going to strive to view the Bible with a Middle Eastern lens and, at the same time, study a few Bible passages in a traditionally Jewish way, the way the rabbis would have taught Jesus the Bible, the way some rabbis still teach the children in Israel today.
  1. We approach the Scriptures as children expecting to be fed by our Father.
  2. We’re not looking for the “right” answer.
  3. We want God’s Word to become a part of who we are.
  4. Learning will be a community endeavor in our time together.
Come, let us explore Jesus and his teachings from the first Century.  How he treated women in that 1st century culture is very different than most people believe and as most women were not treated very well.
Come, let us learn together!

Whatever You Do - A Study of Colossians (FULL)

“In our age of competing worldviews, spiritual confusion, and the temptation to add requirements to simple faith in Christ, Colossians reminds us that Jesus is enough. He is not just a part of God’s plan—He is the center of everything. This letter calls us to find our complete identity, purpose, and spiritual satisfaction in Christ alone.”

Life groups are designed to provide opportunity for interaction on a more casual and shared interest basis.  Through these groups a natural opportunity for encouragement and faith building can happen.  Prayer and scripture reading are encouraged through these groups but these are not focused on study.  Join a Life Group to connect better with others at Crossroads.

MOMco

In a world that values polish over vulnerability, we’re reclaiming the power of awkwardness. Why? Because awkward is authentic and charming. It’s a breath of fresh air. Sometimes in our quest to be seen as competent, professional and sophisticated, we forget the value of being real. Isn’t it interesting how we love and appreciate awkwardness in others yet fight it off when we feel it in ourselves? Moms self-report loneliness in staggering statistics, probably because they feel no one truly knows the truest version of themselves. And there’s one way to make that happen—by getting awkward.

It’s simple but powerful: Once you give yourself permission to be awkward, fear loses its edge. This is when growth happens, relationships deepen, and obedience moves us from frustration to abundance. Perhaps, awkwardness isn’t a weakness but your greatest asset. What a liberation!

We’re entering a new era of earnestness. It’s about showing up as awkward as necessary to express real kindness to other moms. We will be wild, weird, fun, authentic and a little freer. We will become comfortable embracing our unique spark because denying it leaves everyone around us starving for warmth and light.
This year is about to get awkward … in a good way.
