Our Purpose
The purpose for our Missions Ministry team is to promote the message of God’s love both locally and abroad through evangelistic, benevolent and service-oriented efforts.
Our Support
Since the inception of Crossroads Christian Church, Missions has been a priority. To demonstrate that, from the beginning it has been determined that 10% of all general fund giving would be designated towards missions. That means $1 out of every $10 that you give for your tithes and offerings is automatically going to support workers and the work of other ministries to share God’s love in our community, in our country and in our world. Thanks to the generosity of your giving, you are making a difference at home and all around the world.
Living Link Missions
100% or near 100% support of a Missionary and their cause is the concept behind a living link mission. Rather than just send a few dollars here and there and have a small interest in many things…we choose to take a strong interest in a few things. Support is reflected in Financial, Logistical, Directional, Psychological, Spiritual ways.
Currently we support one person as a Living Link Worker and have supported the work for over 15 years.
Special Projects
A special project is a way for us to support other work until we are able to budget enough money for additional living link workers. This kind of support is limited in cost and in term, but the goal is to eventually move a “Special Project” worker into a living link relationship if possible.
Our Current Living Link Project is:
- Kyoto, Japan: Luke and Jenna Fangman Mustard Seed Network
- Cochocton, OH: Phil and Becca Sperling MMS Aviation
- Rapid City, SD: Ben & Kelli Sander Venture Church
Mission Trips
Not only do we want to support those who are going out into the world to share God’s love…we also want to send people to do the same. Our missions trips are designed to provide an opportunity for Crossroads attenders with an ability to experience different cultures, serve different people, support current works supported by Crossroads Missions and perhaps create a desire to go into the world themselves.
Past Mission Trips have included:
-
- Haiti
- Belize
- Russia
- Mexico
- Brazil
- Inner City’s
- Disaster Relief
- Indian Reservation Ministries
Bible College Scholarships
To prepare for a work of service, we highly encourage proper training. When it comes to teaching God’s word, it is necessary to be thoroughly equipped for that purpose as well. So we provide a small scholarship for students who are attending approved Bible Colleges whose purpose is for the training of individuals for christian service. On some occasions we might even support Bible classes from an approved Christian Liberal Arts College whose core class schedule is secular in nature, but whose focus is on teaching God’s principles as well.
Institutions we currently support our students in attending:
Campus Ministry
Not everyone will attend a Christian College or University. So in those cases we highly recommend that students going to college get active in a strong Christian Campus Ministry. These are organizations that can help a student progress in their faith even in the midst of great change and temptation. There are many campus ministries that we would recommend that you check out. Currently we only actively support Campus Christians in Pittsburg, Ks.
Campus Ministries:
- Campus Christians: Pittsburg State University
Team Expansion
Team Expansion is an organization focused on the recruiting, equipping, supporting and sending of Missionaries all around the world. They expertise and knowledge that this organization has in supporting Missionaries is very good. We support them because they are such a strong support for others.
Christian Evangelizing Association
The CEA (Christian Evangelizing Association) is the organization responsible for assessing the needs for new church starts, recruiting and preparing individuals to start the church and supporting them financially for the first three years of their existence. Crossroads exists because of the work of the CEA and as a result, we want to continue that work through our support of them.
International Disaster Emergency Services
IDES has been billed as kind of a “Red Cross” organization with an emphasis in spreading the message of Christ. When a disaster happens nationally or internationally, IDES works with local churches and local ministers to provide aid to those who have suffered losses. The purpose is to help people with their physical needs in hopes that we can reach them with the spiritual truth. There are also many other ministries that IDES uses to spread God’s love.
Local Ministry Outreach
LMO is the Crossroads initiative to provide Crossroads Attenders an opportunity to serve others within our community. Through dirves and service opportunities we choose a program to support, present the need to our congregation, and ask them to give their time and money to help. Ogranizations that we support are located in our community and are constantly working with people and their needs.
LMO Organizations we have worked with:
- Advice and Aid
- City Union Mission
- Shawnee Community Services
- Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child
- Cross-Lines
- Veterans Community Project
- Lifeline (meal packing)
- Sunflower House
- Harvesters
